On April 15, 2016, Tessa became very ill. She had pyometra, or infection of her uterus. She had to go to the veterinary school at the University of Guelph and have emergenncy spay surgery. She recovered beautifully! Here are the posts we made about Tessa's experience. (Timeline is backwards because that's the way it posted on our What's New page. April 15th is at the bottom of the page.

Update on Tessa - It's been ten days today since Tessa had her surgery. She still has some tender moments
and is cautious of her movements, but is coming along wonderfully. Her appetite is back to normal and she
is putting on some weight again. These pictures were taken this morning. Thank you to all our friends for your wonderful thoughts and encouraging words.

We have some upsetting news.
Tessa, one of our Siberian tigers, has pyometra. (Her uterus is infected.) Because of her age (19 years) our extraordinary veterinarian, Dr. Cathy Emms, has done bloodwork on Tessa and that has shown that there are no signs of organ failure and she is in pretty good shape. That means she is a good candidate for surgery.
There will be several board certified surgeons doing the surgery. Our appointment is Monday.
There will be additional charges for post surgery medications, as well as the medications she has received so far.
Many of our friends had helped us through our battle with wolf Nequa and his illness of blastomycosis.
(Nequa is doing quite well and will be off of his medications next month as a test run.) He has been
on medications since June of last year.
We are asking if you would consider a donation towards Tessa, for her surgery and her recovery. We will keep everyone posted throughout the day Monday from the time we leave until after the surgery.
Donations can be made here.
Thank you for your kindness!
